Acupuncture

We often combine osteopathic techniques with acupuncture to maximise the results and benefit of treatment.

At the clinic we use British Medical Acupuncture following a medical diagnosis. This involves inserting thin needles into tight muscles to stimulate nerve endings and promote relaxation of the muscle.

This results in the body producing pain relieving chemicals such as endorphins. These natural chemicals enable pain reduction.

Long lasting results from treatment can be gained through a course of treatment.

There is evidence supporting the efficacy of acupuncture. The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommends acupuncture for the relief of tension headaches and migraines. It also discusses the use of acupuncture for the relief of joint and chronic pain. The British Medical Journal (BMJ) published the efficacy of acupuncture for low back pain and sciatica, showing superior results and benefit when acupuncture was utilised.
